Project 2 Idea Eden
For my project 2 idea, I was thinking about doing a story that mirrors Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Only, in the updated version, they represent how someone's online persona does not reflect them as who they really are. This of course leads to a lot of social issues. People who play up their big online personas can seldom keep friends and relationships, and their online presence might make it hard to tell who the "real them" is. This also changes the social scape as a whole, since other people may become dissatisfied with themselves and their own lives when seeing a fake Mr Hide type version of everyone else on their screens.
Another story that I was thinking of doing was The Tell-Tale heart, and how social media fosters fear and psychological stress to the users. The Narrator posts something, and diligently waits for notifications to come in. As he goes about his day, he keeps feeling his phone vibrate (a real condition called Phantom vibration syndrome) even though no he checks and has no notifications. He goes about his day checking, and eventually makes the decision to keep his phone in a drawer. He keeps thinking the phone is vibrating, exclaiming, "Its here! In the drawers!" He checks it one more time, sees no notifications, and smashes the phone screen.
