"Little Sun" by Olafur Eliasson

The artist of the Little Sun wanted to create an object that could bring light to anyone anywhere in the world, and so the Little Sun was born.  The idea of this object is to give easy access to clean energy to everyone in the world, with a small powerful light source, especially for less developed areas of the world where they don't have easy access to clean energy or energy at all.  The main issue being addressed through this work is the lack of needs in impoverished areas of the world, but also a comment on how easy it would be for the developed nations to switch to clean energy compared to the environmentally hazardous energy sources today.  This little sun supports this message because anyone anywhere can easily use this as a light source over what we use today, and this connects to every person around the world.  As a society, we could all use this tool over flashlights and other light sources that run on lithium batteries and instead use a clean alternative.  Overall, I think this little object is a great representation of how easy it is to contribute to solving a problem if the correct amount of effort can be put in to do so.
