'I Know Where Your Cat Lives'

Although seemingly lighthearted and harmless, Owen Mundy's 'I Know Where Your Cat Lives' brings up an important topic in today's society: privacy. We're constantly being tracked in the modern day, whether we know it or not. It's not difficult to track someone using their online data, whether it be through their Instagram posts or by digging into the very data of their social media accounts. It makes the user question why all these companies and apps could possibly need our location nearly 24/7. It can often be chalked up to advertising purposes, by with how readily available the data is it raises some concerns towards online safety. Mundy originally started the project after finding photos of his then three-year-old daughter on social media with their location attached without his permission. This is incredibly scary to me, knowing that anyone could find the location of Mundy and his family through a seemingly innocent picture. It makes me nervous and forces me to wonder if anyone online has used my posts to track me, and how this could snowball into a much worse issue as our reliance on technology only grows.
