Final Blog Prompt - Olivia Anderson
Owen Mundy uses a very fun and seemingly harmless idea to bring forward the issue of privacy. I believe this work brings forward the idea of how everyone's information is always being collected and the fact that privacy is very limited on the internet. I enjoy how it starts off with a fun activity showing off cats around the world until one starts to think a bit and realizes through clicking the pictures just how creepy this is. They realize that these are personal photos that someone has collected somehow through the internet. Again, this reflects the lack of privacy when it comes to the internet and how unsafe it can truly be. It is extremely interactive, allowing the viewer to experience the site at their own pace, slowly opening up the ideas of privacy to themselves. Their creative approach allows everyone to realize how truly serious the issue may be by using a virtually harmless topic such as cats. If you can find all these cats however, what more may you find?
